The first ever shallot to win the AAS Winner designation. This Echallion Creme Brulee Hybrid Shallot is not only great tasting but it’s also beautiful. The uniform, single-centered bulbs have pretty rosy-purple inner rings that are covered in an attractive iridescent peachy to coppery pink skin that’s easy to peel.
Also called “banana shallots,” the tender bulbs mature early and taste slightly citrusy and sweet, having a high sugar content perfect for caramelizing and enhancing its flavor. They have a long storage potential.
Growing shallots is easy but consider growing with potted mint to deter onion flies.
